Emerging student leaders come to town

Twelve of Australia’s best and brightest aspiring optometry leaders in Melbourne today.

Optometry Australia today welcomed 12 of the sector’s brightest aspiring leaders at our South Melbourne office.

Our inaugural Student Leadership Program – which is providing the skills to become one of the profession’s future leaders – has attracted representatives from all over Australia.

The two-day initiative also includes an all-day coaching session, facilitated by Phil Davies, focusing on different models of leadership, understanding the purpose of leadership and clarifying its guiding values.

CEO Lyn Brodie said she was delighted to welcome the group.

“The program is designed to foster leadership skills in our emerging optometrists to help the sector navigate the anticipated opportunities and challenges,” she said.

The program – also designed to introduce emerging optometry professionals to current leaders and networks – is being held in Melbourne on 21 and 22 January.

Participants will also be introduced to current and emerging leaders in optometry, including members of the Optometry Australia Board and staff, and representatives from Optometry Australia’s early career optometrist groups.
