PBS list of medicines for optometrists

Optometrists endorsed to prescribe medicines can prescribe any drug in the list approved by the Optometry Board of Australia.

This list is found in the Optometry Endorsement Scheduled Medicines Registration Standard (Table 1). Many of the medicines optometrists are authorised to prescribe are also eligible for PBS subsidy for eligible patients.

    I noticed patanol is not on this prescibed list...?

    That is correct. It is on the Optometry Board of Australia’s list of S4 medicines which therapeutically endorsed optometrists can legally prescribe, but it has never been subsidised through the PBS.
