Volume 100: a major milestone and still travelling
One hundred years is a proud milestone in the longevity of any institution. Learn about Clinical and Experimental Optometry’s colourful and convoluted history, as Emeritus Professors Barry Collin and Barry Cole, and former editors of the journal mark the occasion with anecdotes and recollections.
Infection control guidelines for optometrists 2016
These guidelines for Australian optometrists have been revised and updated for the first time in a decade. They aim to help optometrists reduce the risk of transmission of infectious ocular conditions and other infections to and from patients and staff, from contaminated equipment or personal contact in optometry practices.
Visual field testing in the era of advanced imaging
Recent research has challenged existing test paradigms of detection of incremental light stimuli that have remained virtually unchanged since the 1970s. Preliminary results are promising in areas of research attempting to better reconcile the structure-function relationship but more work is needed to produce a widespread paradigm shift in standard automated perimetry.
OBITUARY: A tribute to David Cockburn, a consummate clinician and educator
David Cockburn’s career and achievements ideally coincided with our profession’s formative time when there were so many challenges. He collaborated with some great names of Australian optometry to effect progress and change. Optometry’s place in the health-care system had not yet become clear and was controlled to some extent from outside optometry. David Cockburn so frequently saw the way ahead and so often led the charge.
