A seminar for early career optometrists wishing to refine their knowledge and build confidence conducting paediatric eye examinations will take place in Melbourne on 8 November.
Speakers Peter Nixon and Dr Christolyn Raj will provide strategies and techniques for examining children, and ways to interpret the information obtained during a consultation.
Peter Nixon is a practising optometrist and director at Pezzimenti Nixon Optometrists, a paediatric optometry practice in Hawthorn, Melbourne. Dr Christolyn Raj is a paediatric ophthalmologist and practises in clinics at Sunbury Eye Surgeons and The Royal Children’s Hospital.
The seminar will focus on not-to-be-missed paediatric signs and incorporate a case-based discussion. The latest developments in research in the paediatric field will also be highlighted.
The seminar will take place at Optometry Victoria, Level 1, 28 Drummond Street, Carlton.

Early Career Optometrists in South Australia are co-hosting a ‘Meet the Board’ networking event with the Optometry Board of Australia in Adelaide on 9 November, the night before SA Blue Sky Congress.
The event, which is also open to final year university students, Optometry South Australia members, and SA Blue Sky Congress delegates, will explain the difference between the role of the Optometry Board of Australia, and the role of Optometry Australia.
OBA chairman Ian Bluntish will give a short presentation. There will also be a question and answer session, and advice on how to become a board or committee member.
The event is free and will take place at Adelaide Hills Convention Centre.
