The Federal Government funds the Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme (NAHSSS), which provides opportunities for rural optometrists to access assistance to undertake postgraduate study or to access continuing professional development, and for optometry students to seek study and clinical placement support. NAHSSS scholarships are offered annually. Applications for 2014 scholarships are open now.
The Rural Health Continuing Education Stream Two (RHCE2) program is directed at supporting health professionals in rural and remote areas to access continuing education and training. Grants are offered for individuals or multidisciplinary groups to access continuing professional development and for organisations to develop and/or deliver professional development for rural practitioners. Nursing & Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme
Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) administers the Allied Health Streams of the Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme (NAHSSS). Funding is provided by the Department of Health supporting health professionals to train and practice in geographic and clinical areas of need. SARRAH manages numerous health scholarship streams under the NAHSSS that optometrists may be eligible to apply for.
