Lions Australia is an integral part of one of the world’s largest and most active service organisations of men and women who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities. Lions are known for their dedication in working to end preventable blindness and have established eyesight institutes and other health foundations in all Australian states. They carry out world-ranking research into the causes and treatment of blindness and many other diseases. Most of Australia’s eye banks were also established by Lions.
By working together with a community organisation that is also focused on eye health, members can get more involved in local and other eye health initiatives, educating the community while building referrals and at the same time helping to support Lions Clubs. Your involvement with Lions can be promoted in your newsletters, on your website and with your local media.
Present to your local Lions Club (PRESENTATIONS)
The average age of Lions members is 50+ and they are very interested in eye health! Contact your local Lions Club and ask them if you could present at their next meeting to help educate on eye health. You will be developing important referral links.
Become a member of your local Lions Club (MEMBERSHIP)
Lions are a great way to meet new people, develop new skills and give back to the community at the same time. Plus you will be able to become more closely involved in Lions eye health initiatives. For more information, click here.
Visit a Lions convention (CONVENTIONS)
Lions holds a large number of District Conventions from September to November each year, and there could be one in your local area. Get involved by offering to present or just by going along to network.
Order Lions mints for your practice (MINTS)
Support Lions year-round fund raising program by purchasing mints for your patients, helping to support Lions while being seen as supporting the community.
Get involved in the Lions Eye Health Program (LEHP)
LEHP is a Lions major eye health education initiative promoting early detection and regular eye examinations for people over fifty. Members can help Lions to spread their message by distributing their extensive range of materials.
For any of the above activities, email firstname.lastname@example.org and a Lions Club representative will be in contact with you. In your email, please provide your practice postcode and indicate the program you are most interested in. Please allow up to 10 working days for someone to get in contact.
