Anjalee Athukoralage’s bulk textbook order has saved her 25 optometry student classmates $4,170 off the recommended retail price.

She and her University of Melbourne classmates saved $600 last year in an order from the Online Store, so she knew that ordering 191 books in bulk this year would save them time and money.

‘We placed a bulk order last year and were encouraged to come back for reasons that included savings, convenience and speed of delivery. The bookshop manager Natalina Bortone made the ordering process simple and easy for us all,’ Anjalee said.

Each student purchased the Color Atlas & Synopsis of Clinical Ophthalmology: Wills Eye Institute seven-volume set and the Wills Eye Manual.

‘These textbooks are highly recommended for the disease stream of our course,’ Anjalee said. ‘They include ocular disease diagnosis, management and treatment, including excellent images to aid our learning.’

Student discounts for bulk orders are not set at a fixed percentage but vary for each title. To qualify for a bulk order, students need to make payment at the time of ordering.

Optometry students anywhere in Australia can browse through the Online Store’s huge range and email their book enquiries to Natalina at n.bortone@optometry.org.au.

For Melbourne students, any order through the Online Store can be collected from the Optometry Australia office to save on postage and handling. The office is located less than 500 metres from the University of Melbourne.
