The USA’s OD students recognise the importance of advocacy, Primary Care Optometry News reports.
The president of the American Optometric Student Association Erick Henderson is reported as saying: ‘Millennials are used to people doing things for us. Our experience at the Congressional Advocacy Conference in Washington has taught us that no-one is going to do this for us. We must strive to promote and preserve the profession of optometry.’
The article quotes Mr Henderson as saying the goal was to have 2,000 students attend next year’s conference, and that the expense would pay dividends for years to come.
