Learning Objectives

  • 1. Participants should recognize the importance of a targeted clinical assessment and utilizing the appropriate investigations when confronted by a complex ophthalmic presentation
  • 2. Participants should have a list of differential diagnosis for complex cases, which should include rare but potentially blinding or fatal conditions. This may increase the urgency of referrals to ophthalmologists
  • 3. Participants need to have a high index of suspicion that the patient may have a neuro-ophthalmic condition when the visual symptoms are out of proportion with the sign in ocular examination. Visual field test is mandatory in these patients.
  • 1. To review various postoperative cataract complications
  • 2. To review available intraocular lens choices used in cataract surgery
  • 3. To review future advances in intraocular lens technology
