Learning Objectives

  • Explain the principle of gonioscopy
  • Discuss the importance of gonioscopy in the assessment and monitoring of glaucoma and other ocular conditions
  • List the various types of classification of irido-corneal angles
  • Identify which ocular structures are visible when performing a gonioscopic examination
  • Evaluate the progress of a patient’s condition by analysing gonioscopic results
  • Compare and contrast the various gonioscopic lenses
  • Review other techniques for assessing the risk of glaucoma including anterior OCT and pachymetry
  • Recognise whether an irido-corneal angle is potentially occludable by grading the angle
  • Illustrate an awareness of abnormalities in an irido-corneal angle
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform the technique of gonioscopy.
