Learning Objectives

  • To understand what patients think about having perimetry performed to assess their visual field status.
  • To appreciate what aspects of visual field assessment patients would like to see improved in future technologies.
  • To be knowledgeable of some simple strategies to improve patient experience with perimetry in your practice.
  • To have an appreciation of current scientific understanding of the critical timing at which ganglion cells may/may not survive in the pathogenesis of glaucoma.
  • To appreciate new methods for assessing ganglion cell function in individuals with glaucoma.
  • To understand new strategies that are currently being investigated for supporting ganglion cell function in individuals with glaucoma.
