Activity Outline
Join VisionFirst on 21 April for an engaging and interactive CPD education evening designed specifically for optometrists. This in-person event offers a practical and clinically focused update delivered by our experienced ophthalmology team, with an emphasis on strengthening collaborative care between optometry and ophthalmology.
The evening will cover key topics including shared care in cataract and refractive surgery, current approaches to glaucoma management, and updates in medical retina and macular disease treatment. Through real-world case presentations and interactive discussion, attendees will explore referral decision-making, co-management strategies, and practical clinical pearls that can be immediately applied in practice.
Rather than a lecture-only format, the session is structured to encourage participation, with case-based learning, open Q&A, and collaborative problem-solving. It’s an opportunity to deepen clinical knowledge in an engaging environment while gaining clarity around pathways of care and patient communication. A two course meal will be provided, allowing time for meaningful professional conversation and relationship building.

Learning Objectives
- Be able to identify a number of involutional eyelid and lacrimal disorders that may occur with advancing age and how they may occur concurrently.
- Understand treatment priorities when multiple ocular pathologies occur concurrently.
- Understand and interpret recent updates to glaucoma management.
- Recognise emerging therapies and surgical advances in glaucoma management for patients
- Being able to recognize atypical clinical features in common ophthalmic presentations and apply critical diagnostic reasoning to identify cases that may represent underlying or alternative pathology.
- Being able to identify atypical or misleading ophthalmic presentations and appropriately triage referral urgency based on the suspected underlying diagnosis.
