Activity Outline

Please join us for a 2-course dinner and drinks with Emma, Celia & Adam for the latest in Myopia Management strategy.

This educational evening will offer insights into myopia epidemiology, the options currently available to practitioners to manage myopia, with insights on efficacy and an additional focus on the design elements associated with the latest soft contact lens for myopia management to be launched to market, ACUVUE® Abiliti® 1-Day. Via the use of "interactive" small group discussions, real-world case studies will be shared and explored, highlighting how the combination of improving knowledge and confidence, and innovations in contact lens design, can be a winning formula to delivering successful outcomes with young myopic patients and elevate your myopia management practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the evidence-based mechanisms by which contact lenses designed on the principle of macular confusion can slow axial elongation in childhood myopia
  • Interpret clinical outcomes from real-world patients fitted with Johnson & Johnson ACUVUE® Abiliti® 1-Day Soft Therapeutic Lenses, including refractive and axial length progression
  • Identify appropriate patient selection criteria for soft myopia-control contact lenses
  • Recognise common clinical challenges encountered in real-world myopia management (compliance, adaptation, centration, tear film factors)
  • Develop evidence-based management plans when myopia progression continues despite treatment
  • Integrate ACUVUE® Abiliti® 1-Day lenses into a broader myopia management strategy, including environmental and pharmacological adjuncts
  • Describe the structure and physiological role of the choroid in maintaining outer retinal metabolism and regulating ocular growth
  • Explain the proposed relationship between choroidal ischaemia, hypoxia, and axial elongation in progressive myopia
  • Identify clinical biomarkers of choroidal dysfunction in myopic patients, including changes in choroidal thickness, perfusion, and OCT/OCTA findings
  • Evaluate current evidence linking choroidal vascular changes to myopia progression in children and young adults
  • Integrate vascular and biomechanical theories of myopia progression to inform clinical decision-making in myopia management strategies such as optical treatments, pharmacological therapy, and lifestyle interventions
