Activity Outline

This live CPD session will provide optometrists and other eye care professionals with a practical and evidence-based overview of repeated low-level red-light therapy, or RLRL, as an emerging option for myopia management. The session will cover the proposed mechanism of action of RLRL, the latest clinical studies and safety data, and its practical integration into clinical myopia management. Presentations will combine current research with real-world clinical experience and findings from the landmark Australian College of Optometry RLRL study.

Session Program

1. Clinical Integration and Patient Case Studies – Jason Chen, Sanctuary Lakes Eyecare

Jason Chen will present real-world patient case studies and discuss how he incorporates RLRL into his myopia management practice. The presentation will address patient selection, treatment planning, monitoring, compliance, communication with families and the use of RLRL alongside other myopia control options.

2. Mechanism of Action and Latest Clinical Evidence – Lisa, Clinical Director, Eyerising International

Lisa will provide an overview of the proposed biological mechanisms underlying RLRL therapy, including its effects on ocular blood flow, choroidal response, retinal metabolism and axial eye growth. She will also review the latest published studies, clinical data, safety findings and developments in the evidence base.

3. Findings from the Australian College of Optometry RLRL Study – Nellie Deen, Australian College of Optometry

Nellie Deen will present the design, methodology and key findings from the Australian College of Optometry’s landmark RLRL clinical study. The presentation will discuss the study’s relevance to Australian clinical practice and its contribution to the growing international evidence supporting RLRL in myopia management.

4. Panel Discussion and Q&A

The session will conclude with an interactive panel discussion and audience Q&A, allowing participants to explore clinical decision-making, patient suitability, safety monitoring, treatment protocols and practical implementation.
