Activity Outline
This will be a small group interactive lecture series including hands on learning. Taking place in our consulting rooms, you will be in a group of no more than 10 fellow optometrists rotating through 4 lecture topics each approximately 25 minutes in duration with time at the end of each session for questions.Learning Objectives
- Describe the clinical features and differentiating characteristics of common iris and ciliary body lesions — including naevi, melanoma, and cysts — using slit-lamp examination and gonioscopy, and identify key risk factors and clinical signs that warrant further investigation or specialist referral.
- Discuss advantages and different options of combining cataract surgery with minimal invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS)
- Understand the concept of early worsening of diabetic retinopathy with rapid improvement in diabetic control and understand impact of new diabetic treatments on diabetic retinopathy
- Discuss the signs to look for in eyes with PXF and the challenges that can arise in cataract surgery. Dietary, genetic and lifestyle factors implicated in PXF formation will also be discussed.
