Activity Outline

Dr Varun Chandra will be presenting "Angles under Pressure: Angle Closure and Aqueous Misdirection in Practice" and Dr Lisa Farber will be presenting "Microcurrent Stimulation of the Retina in Dry AMD"

Learning Objectives

  • Identify angle closure with history and examination including gonioscopy ± anterior segment OCT, and differentiate primary angle closure from secondary angle closure
  • Apply evidence from pivotal trials such as EAGLE and ZAP to guide clinical decisions, specifically when to consider monitoring vs peripheral iridotomy vs lens extraction
  • Distinguish aqueous misdirection from pupil block by recognising hallmark signs and typical postoperative contexts
  • Commence appropriate first-line therapy for angle closure and aqueous misdirection, and identify red flags for same-day ophthalmology review
  • Gain an understanding of the use of microcurrent stimulation of retinal cells in dry AMD
  • Gain an understanding of the mechanism of action of microcurrent stimulation of retinal cells
  • Guidelines for patient suitability for treatment with microcurrent stimulation of retinal cells in dry AMD
