Activity Outline

This event will involve 3 speakers, each with 30 minutes allocated followed a 10-minute interactive session related to their content. In addition, each session will include live polling via a mobile app for participation from the audience. The attendees will be seated at tables with maximum of 6 people per table for the duration of each session. During the Q&A times, we will give time for discussion between attendees to discuss the relevance to their clinical practice.

The first speaker, Dr Emma Gilles will be presenting data from a randomised controlled clinical trial exploring the efficacy of a novel contact lens design for myopia control. In addition, the application of combination therapy with low-dose atropine will be discussed.

2nd, Eric Cheng will demonstrate the use of topography-based GP lens design using specialised software to enhance myopia control in OrthoK. In addition, the application of combination therapy with low-dose atropine will be discussed.

3rd, compounding pharmacist Devesh Sheth will present on the compounding of low-dose atropine for myopia control and other therapeutic ophthalmic preparation. He will detail areas around sterility and bioavailability of compounder therapeutic interventions.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the catenary curve design of NaturalVue Multifocal and its application in the correction of presbyopia and in myopia progression control
  • Improve their fitting of presbyopes for first time success
  • Understand the efficacy of NaturalVue in Myopia Progression control, the role of pupil size on treatment effect, as well as the potential for enhanced efficacy with combination atropine therapy
  • Understand the use of topography-based lens GP design with Wave
  • Understand how to modify OrthoK lens design to enhance myopia control outcomes, as well as the potential for enhanced efficacy with combination atropine therapy
  • Understand the importance of maintaining sterility during the compounding of ophthalmic therapeutics along with issues around bioavailability in compounded low-dose atropine
