Learning Objectives

  • Relate the importance of corneal blindness
  • Understand the impact of keratoconus
  • Have knowledge of the indication for corneal cross-linking ie progression in keratoconus
  • Understand the role of the Save Sight Registries in understanding disease natural history and reporting outcomes data, particularly in corneal cross-linking for keratoconus
  • Have knowledge of resources able to provide information on ocular stem cell therapies
  • Understand research priorities in corneal infection (keratitis)
  • Educate patients on the need for strict contact lens hygiene
  • Educate patients on the need for eye protection
  • Recognise that Aromatase inhibitor therapy for breast cancer may produce dry eye
