The Optometry Education Conference is a signature education event for Optometrists on the Sunshine Coast.
The event will be held on Sunday 28 July at the Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort.
Speakers at this conference will include: Dr Warren Apel, Dr Sonia Moorthy, Dr James Walker, Dr Tuan Tran, Dr Ebony Smith.
Learning Objectives
- Determine whether cataract is the main cause of a patient’s visual pathology
- Outline cataract surgery and refractive lens options in the context of macula and other ophthalmic pathology
- Summarise the treatments for Presbyopia and other Refractive Corrections
- Assess whether patients are suitable candidates for refractive laser surgery or Presbyond to improve patient outcomes
- Examine a patient with strabismus and identify referral pathways
- Describe treatment options before referral and outline any new techniques and research
- Understand various indications for secondary IOLs
- Understand the various categories of secondary IOLs and potential complications of each
- Evaluate a patient's ocular health, visual needs, and suitability for seconday IOL procedure before referring to a specialist
- Identify red flags in oculoplastic conditions and determine when to refer a patient to a specialist
- Increase the diagnostic accuracy of participants in distinguishing benign from malignant lesions
- Identify clinical features of a BCC on the lower eyelid and discuss management options
