Activity Outline

Refractive surgery procedures and techniques are continuously evolving. The various procedures currently available will be discussed from an Ophthalmologist's perspective when recommending the most suitable procedure to replace the need for glasses and contact lenses. The presentation will cover a detailed, systematic approach of assessing all measured eye parameters and discuss why some procedures are more appropriate than others for optimal outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Understanding the latest refractive surgery options available for myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia: this will include LASIK, KLEX, PRK, ICLs, Refractive Lens Exchange and Corneal Allogenic Intrastromal Ring Segments (CAIRS)
  • Which measured eye parameters are most important when determining the most appropriate refractive procedure.
