Topic 1 - Surgical Management of Presbyopia with Dr Erica Darian-Smith
Duration: 60 minutes (45 minutes talk, 15 minutes discussion)

Erica will guide you through the latest in presbyopia surgery. The talk will cover the latest in intraocular lens surgery and corneal based options, with a focus on managing refraction post-operatively. 

Topic 2 - The Ins and Outs of Intravitreal Therapies with Dr Mitchell Lee
Duration: 60 minutes (45 minutes talk, 15 minutes discussion)

Mitch will cover the essentials of intravitreal therapies, focusing on how these treatments work in practice and the important complications to watch for. Mitch will also introduce you to the emerging therapies that are just around the corner.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain an understanding of the intraocular surgical options for presbyopia correction.
  • Gain an understanding of cornea-based surgical options for presbyopia, namely laser blended vision.
  • Review the clinical optics relevant to presbyopia-correcting intraocular lens implants.
  • Develop an approach to the clinical management of patients who have undergone surgery for presbyopia correction.
  • Gain an overview of the types and treatment strategies of currently available intravitreal therapeutic agents.
  • Understand the indications for the various intravitreal anti-VEGF therapy options.
  • Gain an understanding of the common and serious complications of intravitreal injection, in particular how they present clinically.
  • An introduction to novel therapies and delivery systems likely to become commercially available in the near future.
