We are excited to invite you to the first Optometry Evening of 2025 at Eagle Eye Surgeons commencing at 6pm.

(2) From Diagnosis to Management: A Deep Dive into Corneal Dystrophies and Degenerations - What to manage and when to refer? with Dr Erica Darian-Smith

(3) Cutting edge glaucoma care in 2025 with Dr Noor Ali

Learning Objectives

  • Understand modern glaucoma risk assessment and diagnosis
  • Understand the modern treatment paradigm of interventional glaucoma care
  • Understand minimally invasive and traditional glaucoma surgeries
  • Recognise the variable appearance of choroidal naevi
  • Be able to identify signs of potential malignant change in choroidal lesions
  • Understand the importance of diagnostic imaging techniques (e.g., OCT, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography) in evaluating choroidal and retinal lesions and guiding diagnosis
  • Learn how to monitor patients with choroidal and retinal lesions over time, and understand the role of optometrists in long-term management, including recognising when to refer for further specialist care
  • Differentiate between corneal dystrophies and degenerations based on their aetiology, progression, and clinical presentation
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of common corneal dystrophies and degenerations, and understand when to refer for further management
