ECO WA CPD Evening Workshop on Tuesday 24th Sep 2024 6.00pm to 7.45pm. Early Career Optometrists Workshop at UWA sponsored by Optimed WAIT LIST HERE
Topic: Dry Eye Workshop: Evidence-Based Diagnostic and Treatment Protocols
Summary: This workshop provides an in-depth look into the advanced diagnostic and treatment protocols for managing dry eye disease. It will outline the various clinical tests essential for a comprehensive evaluation of dry eye patients. These tests include tear film analysis, ocular surface staining, and assessments of tear production and evaporation rates.
It will review evidence-based protocols for diagnosing and treating dry eye. This includes a discussion on the latest research and guidelines that inform current clinical protocols at The Eye Health Centre of Western Australia (EHCWA).
A practical application of these protocols will be discussed through a clinical case study integrating these procedures. Finally, the workshop will demonstrate in-office techniques for meibomian gland expression, a crucial component in treating meibomian gland dysfunction, a common cause of dry eye. Attendees will learn and practice methods to improve gland function and patient outcomes through effective gland expression techniques.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a thorough understanding of advanced diagnostic tools, evidence-based treatment strategies, and practical techniques for managing dry eye, equipping them to provide better care for their patients.
