Activity Outline

Envision Eye Centre is a boutique ophthalmic practice with locations in the heart of Sydney’s CBD and Darlinghurst. Join us on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, for an engaging evening of clinical insight, discussion, and connection in an intimate 3 course dinner setting. Presentations on the night will be delivered by our leading ophthalmologists, including our director Dr John Males, Dr Elias Kehdi, Dr Sophia Zagora, and Dr Deepa Viswanathan. Each session will run for 30–45 minutes and cover practical, relevant topics designed to support and enhance your professional development. Held over a relaxed dinner, this evening offers a unique opportunity to connect with peers and specialists in a warm, welcoming environment. Being a small format of the evening, numbers are strictly limited to ensure an engaging experience. RSVP soon as we'd love for you to join us.

Learning Objectives

  • Develop an understanding of the function of an intraocular lens
  • Establish knowledge of current available types of intraocular lenses
  • Have a clear understanding of proposed role of the different classes of intraocular lenses
  • Recognise the unwanted side effects of each class of intraocular lens
  • Develop familiarity with possible combinations of different classes of intraocular lenses to suit different lifestyles in patients.
  • Prevalence of dry eyes
  • Causes of dry eyes and contributing factors
  • Clinical signs and symptoms
  • Evaluation of ocular and systemic causes
  • Treatment algorithm
  • Presbyopia Pathophysiology & “Forty Plus” Visual Demands Quick recap of crystalline lens biomechanics, loss of accommodation from ~40 years onward, and the real world tasks (digital devices, driving, hobbies) that drive patient motivation for surgical solutions.
  • Comprehensive Pre operative Assessment & Patient Selection Importance of detailed refraction, aberrometry, ocular surface evaluation, dominant eye testing, and lifestyle profiling to match candidates with the most suitable presbyopic laser strategy or to rule them out.
  • Treatment Modalities at a Glance Side by side overview of laser options: o PresbyOND LBV (micromonovision + spherical aberration induction) o PresbyMAX (central presbyopic, peripheral distance profiles) o Monovision LASIK/SMILE o Other “Legacy” Options (Inlays, Supracor etc)
  • Optical Principles & Visual Performance Trade offs How each profile manipulates depth of focus (spherical aberration, multifocality, anisometropia) and the expected impact on contrast sensitivity, night vision, and neuroadaptation.
  • Counselling, Expectation Management & Neuroadaptation Scripts for discussing realistic near vision gains, potential glare/halos, adaptation periods, and the possibility of enhancement or lens based conversion later in life.
  • Shared Care Pathway for Optometrists Post op co management protocols, recognising red flags (DLK, regression, dry eye), optimising ocular surface for maximal outcomes, and when to consider referring for alternative interventions (e.g., refractive lens exchange or pharmacologic miotics).
  • Choroidal Neovascularisation (CNV) Diagnosis
  • Choroidal Neovascularisation (CNV) Management
  • Cataract surgery and Choroidal Neovascularisation (CNV)
  • Diabetic Cystoid Macular Odema (CMO)
  • Diabetes Management and Review
