Activity Outline


Each event will feature two expert speakers, each delivering a brief, engaging lecture with PowerPoint slides. Afterward, attendees will participate in interactive polling with multiple-choice questions, followed by small group breakout sessions to explore case studies, treatment options, and real-world examples. These breakout discussions will run for a few minutes, after which groups will reconvene to share their insights with the larger audience and receive feedback from the presenting doctors. 

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the indications for vitrectomy, including retinal detachment, macular holes, vitreous haemorrhage, epiretinal membranes and thoughts on vitrectomy & cataract combination surgery
  • Interpret referral criteria and pre- operative management for patients undergoing vitrectomy
  • Describe the basic surgical techniques and instrumentation used in modern pars plana vitrectomy
  • Recognize potential complications and post-operative outcomes for patients undergoing vitrectomy
  • Review current advances and innovations in vitrectomy, including small-gauge surgery and intraoperative imaging
  • Identify the most frequently observed ocular condition in patients with syphilis and understand its clinical significance
  • Understand the neurological and ophthalmic manifestations of tertiary syphilis, focusing on pupil abnormalities
  • Recognise the spectrum of eye-related conditions that may occur in syphilitic infection across different stages
