Learning Objectives
- Recognise and diagnose keratoconus, including early signs using corneal imaging
- Understand the principles, indications, and outcomes of corneal cross-linking (CXL)
- Know when to refer for CXL and the optometrist’s role in co-management. Explore current and emerging treatment options
- Differentiate stages of AMD and identify key clinical features
- Interpret OCT, OCT-A, and FAF to detect progression
- Recognise symptoms linked to disease severity and advise on evidence-based management, current treatments, and available clinical trials
- Recognize hallmark signs of GA and differentiate it from other AMD forms
- Use of imaging diagnose and monitor progression. Understand the natural history and visual impact of GA
- Review current and emerging treatments. Implement effective management, patient education, and referral strategies.
- Understand Guidedogs Australia -the referral process, technology, daily living skills, support
