Learning Objectives
- Better understand the relationship between cataract and corneal pathology – dry eye, fuch's endothelial dystrophy, pterygium and irregular astigmatism
- Better understand the relationship between cataract and intraocular inflammation – recurrent anterior uveitis, chronic anterior uveitis, Posner schlossman syndrome (PSS), herpetic disease
- Better understand the relationship between cataract in the diabetic patient – diabetic macula oedema (DMO), NPDR and PDR
- Better understand the causes of the range of problems that can occur during cataract surgery & the surgical/therapeutic management options of such complicated cases
- Recognize peripheral lesions & other retinal changes that require vitrectomy and formulate management/treatment plan, when to refer and when to watch
