- Understand and discuss the steps of cataract surgery
- Explain and discuss cataract surgery including the risks and benefits with patients.
- Practice intraocular navigation of microsurgical instruments in virtual reality
- Recognise mind skills required for surgery
- Recognise and practice mind skills required for high performance in optometry.
- Recognise and focus on personal resources such as health and wellbeing that are required for high performance.
- Identify important aspects of body ergonomics as it applies to slit lamp use and practice methods to improve posture and prevent injury.
- Identify personal strategies and routines to help performance in high stress situations for example giving a speech or performing a procedure.
- Learn about and understand the basics of how a phaco machine works during cataract surgery
- Recognise how technology and innovation can help us to achieve better results for our patients both now and in the future.
