Learning Objectives

  • Identify patients at risk of a poor ocular surface prior to anterior segment surgery
  • Instigate management of the ocular surface to optimise the ocular surface before, during and after surgery
  • Achieve the desired refractive outcomes and a comfortable eye ie a very happy patient
  • Understand the importance of a healthy ocular surface prior to cataract surgery
  • Recognise the importance of treating the ocular surface with ciclosporin
  • Build knowledge on applying real-world data to a clinical setting involving a once daily ciclosporin 0.1% eye drop
  • Understand the impact of poor ocular surface and unstable tear film on vision in a patient with PCIOLs
  • Be able to counsel patients on the importance of dry eye management pre and post cataract surgery.
