Activity Outline

OCT instruments are essential for the diagnosis and management of eye disease, particularly glaucoma. However, there is potential for incorrect interpretation if practitioners do not fully understand the instrument, and how it collects and analyses data.
Studies show up to 25% of OCT scans produce false positives. An essen.al factor in glaucoma management is accurate progression analysis, to decide if changes of less than a micron are a sign of clinical deterioration.
This presentation will describe strategies to limit false positives, and discuss the OCT settings required for the earliest detection of change over ti.me.

  • Understand the anatomical structure of the retina pertaining to glaucoma
  • Recognise OCT structural changes caused by glaucoma
