Activity Outline

Repeated Low-Level Red Light (RLRL) therapy has been available in Japan since 2023 through the Private Import with Doctor’s License scheme. While RLRL therapy is currently undergoing the PMDA approval process, it has already seen strong uptake and positive reception among both ophthalmologists and patients.

In this webinar, we are honoured to welcome two leading experts in myopia control who were among the earliest adopters of RLRL therapy in Japan:

Dr. Takashi Kojima, Director of Corneal Services, Nagoya Eye Clinic

Shinya Takahashi, Director of the Department of Orthoptics, Ozawa Eye and Internal Medicine Hospital

They will share real-world clinical experiences, case studies, and practical insights into integrating RLRL therapy into daily practice.

Join us to gain valuable perspectives from the front line of myopia management in Japan.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the underlying mechanism and emerging evidence base for RLRL therapy in slowing myopia progression, including its relevance to optometric scope of practice in Australia.
  • Critically assess real-world clinical data and case examples from Japanese ophthalmology and orthoptic practices to inform decision-making in myopia management.
  • Apply practical strategies for integrating RLRL therapy into optometric workflow, including considerations for patient selection, treatment protocols, and ongoing monitoring.
