Join us for a night of Visionary Learning with LASERSIGHT Melbourne

This evening will be complemented by two meticulously prepared, interactive presentations;

• Therapeutic Laser Treatments by Dr Laurence Sullivan

• ICL case studies & Ophthalmic relationships; single, double, poly by Dr Michael Shiu

Date: Thursday 17th of October

Location: The National Hotel 182-186 High Street Bendigo VIC 3550

Time: registration 6:30pm. Education 7pm-9pm (Dinner and refreshments provided)


Learning Objectives

  • To understand which conditions laser can treat
  • To understand the role that laser has in treating corneal conditions
  • To understand how topography and OCT plays a role in diagnosis and treatment
  • Understand the common and subtle presentations and clinical manifestations of ocular co-morbidities affecting the anterior segment
  • Understand the need to achieve an early and accurate diagnosis of concomitant systemic diseases to appropriately manage eye disorders and help anticipate or avoid complications
  • Understand the importance of balancing polypharmacy in patients with multiple comorbidities
  • Develop an awareness of the clinical impact of ocular co-morbidity in terms of vision loss (visual acuity, visual field, other visual functional loss) and impact on a patient's overall quality of life
  • Develop strategies to manage the complex clinical needs of patients with multiple ocular co-morbidities including prioritisation, adaptability and reassessment of needs upon presentation of worsening existing symptoms or new symptoms
  • Understand the importance of inter-professional communication with GPs, specialists and other allied health providers in optimising care for patients with ocular co-morbidity
  • Know what role optometrists play in the shared care scenario
  • When is ICL indicated and advantageous and to be able to choose the right candidate
  • Understand the complications that can come with ICL insertion
