Join us for an evening of interactive, case-based learning covering glaucoma, cataract surgery, AMD and Geographic Atrophy.

Glaucoma

• Proactively identify patients at risk of glaucoma through targeted history, clinical examination, and interpretation of diagnostic data—moving beyond opportunistic detection. Consideration of impact of genetic testing.

• Confidently interpret structural and functional change over time, using evidence-based thresholds to guide when to observe or refer.

• Develop working understanding of indications, benefits, and limitations of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) - informed patient counselling and participation in pre/postoperative co-management.

Cataract Surgery

• Learn how to evaluate signs and symptoms of cataract in context of functional vision and patient quality of life, to inform timely and patient-centred intraocular lens (IOL) selection.

• Develop an understanding of when to refer based on patient benefits and risks minimisation related to quality of life, independence, falls prevention, and dementia onset.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the complexities of IOL selection, enabling effective patient education, expectation setting, and shared decision-making.

• Assess and address suboptimal refractive and visual outcomes following cataract surgery, applying knowledge of available management options and limitations.

Age related macular degeneration and geographic atrophy

• Develop a practical understanding of newly available treatments for geographic atrophy, enabling informed discussions with patients about eligibility, expected outcomes, and timely referral.

• Interpret multimodal imaging to detect subtle progression, including geographic atrophy development, and determine appropriate review intervals and escalation pathways.

• Proactively identify patients at risk of AMD progression through structured assessment of clinical signs, imaging, and modifiable risk factors—initiating strategies rather than simply documenting disease.

• Learn how to support treatment adherence, monitoring for complications, and maintaining close communication with the ophthalmologist to improve patient outcomes.
