Activity Outline

This presentation will be an excursion through the various causes of macular oedema and its doppelgangers/mimickers. Dr Chew will showcase a variety of case studies with photos and scans of his encounters in the wild with these conditions.

The following sponsored session will provide a review of the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative considerations in diabetics requiring cataract surgery. The difficulties, risks and complications associated with phacoemulsification in diabetics are presented, and strategies to mitigate are discussed.

  • Know how to triage and refer the different causes of macular oedema in a timely manner
  • Counsel diabetics regarding outcomes following cataract surgery
