Activity Outline

This will be a sit-down face to face talk in a boardroom to optometrists. 3 ophthalmologists will be presenting: Dr Jenna Besley, Dr Robert Griffits and Dr Kuo Luong Lee. Please see below for agenda on the night:

We are applying for Therapeutic CPD points specifically.

Registration and Introduction (6pm-6.30pm): Welcome!

Presentation 1 (6.30pm-7pm): Differentiating between brow ptosis, aponeurotic ptosis and dermatochalasis - Practical tips, red flags and when to operate (Dr Jenna Besley)

Presentation 2 (7pm-7.30pm): Giant Cell Arteritis - Not to be missed! (Dr Robert Griffits)

Presentation 3 (7.30pm-8pm): Medical and surgical retinal cases (Dr Kuo Luong Lee)

Attendees will be broken up into 3 smaller groups for Interactive Discussion (8pm-8.45pm): 3 x 15 min Round Robin with each Doctor rotating through the 3 groups.

Learning Objectives

• Differentiate between brow ptosis, aponeurotic ptosis and dermatochalasis.
• Describe the array of presenting symptoms and signs of GCA. 2) understand the urgency of diagnosis and treatment. 3) learns about the appropriate diagnostic clinical and laboratory tests . 4) learn about the current treatments.
•  Measure the size of a full-thickness macular hole (FTMH) on macular OCT scan
• Understand how the size of FTMHs affect management
• Describe management of FMTH including new, no tamponade/posturing surgery
• Assess proliferative diabetic retinopathy 
• Discuss the management considerations for proliferative diabetic retinopathy
