Learning Objectives
- Identify new therapies available for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and their potential advantages
- Recognise potential new treatments for the management of atrophic (dry) AMD and the role they may play in ongoing patient care
- Discuss recent developments in models of patient care and possible future therapies under investigation for both wet and dry AMD
- Understand the rationale for treatment of normal tension glaucoma
- Understand the potential adverse drug reactions of commonly used topical glaucoma medications
- Understand and be able to escalate the care of patients with progressive glaucomatous optic neuropathy
- Gain insight into the co-management of glaucoma between Optometrist and Ophthalmologist
- Recognise emergencies and referral pathways in patients with glaucoma
- Recognise that glaucoma may be secondary to other ophthalmic and systemic conditions
