Learning Objectives
- Brief survey within the Oculoplastics and Paedi-atric Ophthalmology domains of some of the common as well as po-tentially vision and life-threatening conditions not to be missed.
- To optimise the delivery of medical therapy in glaucoma
- To gain an understanding of the latest techniques for treating corneal disease and surgical management of refractive error
- Understand the spectrum of presentations of surgical macular conditions and their OCT findings to help determine macular conditions that require timely referral and surgical management.
- To educate about the clinical manifestations and management of diabetic retinopathy in mild to severe forms, including updates on medical and surgical management.
- Identify the range of ocular conditions which influence the management of cataracts.
Institute harm minimisation treatment strategies for patients planning cataract surgery
Learn treatment approaches to a range of comorbid ocular diseases
- • Learn further insight of using Indirect ophthalmoscopy
• Understand relevance of surgical anatomy of eye and retina
• Appreciate the intricate relationship of Vitreous and retinal interface
• Revisit age-related vitreous change and its implications - PVD, holes, tears, haemorrhage
• Recognise retinal detachment presentation
• Know when and where to refer (public vs. private) with key allied health peri-operative management
- Identify important causes of lens opacities in younger patients
- Better understanding of the strengths and limitations of OCT in diagnosing glaucoma in routine clinical practice
- Develop a comprehensive management plan for patients with dry macular degeneration
