Activity Outline

This presentation will cover the common signs of stroke (Face.Arms.Speech.Time – F.A.S.T.); types of stroke and what to do in case of sudden onset.

Relevant stroke statistics in Australia will also be presented, and viewed through their geographic, socio-economic and health determinants.

We will also discuss how optometrists can best support their patients with lived experience of stroke, and what resources are available to ensure survivors of stroke and their families can achieve optimal post-stroke care outcomes.

  • Recognise the risk factors and common signs of stroke and what to do in case of sudden onset of stroke
  • Support patients with lived experience of stroke and list supports and resources available
