Activity Outline

Since the development of the first digressive lenses at the end of the last century, the choice of designs has increased dramatically but many practitioners still embrace last century designs as being most easy to use. This presentation will examine some of the options now available and the myriad of uses for them. It will also show some simple calculations to achieve the ergonomics and working distance required. The presentation will also include is a brief look at high energy visible blue light solutions.

Learning Objectives

  • Appreciate that not all digressive lenses are suitable for desktop computer use
  • Understand the correct ergonomics required for desktop computer use and ensure the solution offered to a patient does not interfere with this
  • Understand the different methods of reducing the amount of blue light the patient experiences
