Learning Objectives

  • To learn what factors influence a patient’s eligibility for refractive surgery and what pre-operative testing is performed
  • To learn how to manage patients’ dry eyes pre- and post-operatively (laser eye surgery)
  • To understand the differences between the different types of corneal refractive surgery; how these procedures are planned and what factors influence a patient’s potential outcome
  • To understand risk factors for post-operative (pseudophakic) cystoid macular oedema
  • To illustrate pre-, intra- and post-operative factors that optimise outcomes in patients undergoing cataract surgery with retinal pathology or uveitis
  • Recognise features of benign vs malignant eyelid lesions
  • Understand the process a patient will go through during and after surgery for eyelid lesions
