Chatswood Private Hospital, Epping Surgery Centre and Madison Day Surgery invites you once again to our Annual Optometrist Conference. Hear from leading Ophthalmologists covering the latest information on a range of topics whilst gaining CPD hours.
The Conference will consist of two concurrent speaker programs featuring 11 to 12 Ophthalmologists in each room, making a total of 23 Ophthalmologists. Each speaker presentation will run for 15 minutes on topics of interest to the Optometrist community and include audience question time.
Learning Objectives
- 1. To develop a practical approach to clinical diagnosis and management of common retinal conditions including uveitis
2. To improve skills in interpretation of retinal imaging such as OCT
3. To understand the latest clinical trial results and new emerging treatments that are likely to be available in Australia in near future.
- To learn about the evaluation and management of dry eye and related conditions.
- 1. Gain awareness of pathogenies of thyroid eye disease.
2. Identify varied presentation of thyroid eye disease.
3. Discuss changes in management and clinical. 4. Highlight collaborative approach to management trials.
- 1. Safe prescribing of Ophthalmic medications during pregnancy.
2. Treatment options for retinal disease during pregnancy.
3. Complications of Intravitreal medication.
- 1. To correctly diagnose HLA-B27 associated anterior uveitis.
2. To correctly diagnose infective causes of anterior uveitis.
3. To correctly exclude posterior segment involvement with uveitis.
4. To be aware of the complications associated with steroid eye drops.
5. To be aware of suitable investigations for various types of uveitis.
- To understand how to assess infant vision and diagnose common conditions that affect infant vision.
- 1. Become aware of new options for surgical management of corneal ectasia and to identify suitable candidates.
2. Become aware of technological advances in cataract & laser refractive surgery that may benefit patients.
- To discuss cases of keratitis and its emergency management.
- 1. To review red flag features of anterior segment tumors.
2. Update on useful imaging modalities in the assessment of anterior segment tumors.
3. Review of anterior segment tumor pathology.
4. Review of anterior segment tumor management
- Promote understanding of medical and surgical retinal conditions.
- 1. Review of corneal diseases that affect IOL choice incl keratoconus and EBMD
2. Intercurrent eye disease factors that affect IOL choice incl PXF, ARMD and glaucoma
3. Patient-related factors incl personality, hobbies, profession
- Indications and recognising the ocular pathology in patients that may need drops preoperative and longer duration post operatively.
- 1. Understand the systemic health impact of Floppy Eyelid Syndrome.
2. Know how to diagnose, treat and when to refer these patients.
- 1. Understand what IOL technology is & will be available to patients
2. Understand the role that artificial intelligence will play in the future of cataract surgery.
- This session will teach attendees how to make the correct diagrnosis from identifying specific retinal findings.
- To provide a better understanding of the cause of ocular pain and to help the practitioner diagnose clinical conditions.
- To understand the indications, technique of implanting preserflo & initial 2-year outcomes.
- Outline the signs, symptoms, systemic associations and management.
