Activity Outline

This educational evening will consist of 2 separate sessions, each lasting a total of 30 minutes in duration.

Within each session, the presenting doctor will deliver a short lecture using PowerPoint slides including polling for answers to the multiple choice

questions as a form of knowledge check.

The presentation titles are:

1. The decision tree in Presbyopia: Laser, Lens-Based and other Innovations in Presbyopia Correction - presented by Dr Aanchal Gupta

2. Oculoplastics update: Interesting Cases and Therapeutic guidelines - presented by Dr Katja Ullrich

The presentations will not only present details on the latest technology and surgical techniques but also:

- the pre-operative management of ocular surface to such as lubricants and topical anti-inflammatory agents to manage and optimise the ocular

surface prior to refractive surgery

- managing patients post IOLs implants. Prescribing drops that may assist with post-operative symptoms like haloes and glare.

- optimising post operative outcomes for oculoplastic and refractive patients such as management of dry eye, ongoing ocular surface inflammation

which may include topical steroids and other options such as ciclosporin, IPL etc

- post-operative co-management with optometrists for looking for and managing high intraocular pressure with ocular anti-hypertensives in patients

on post-op steroids,

- understanding and developing confidence in when and how to prescribe appropriate medication and how to monitor outcomes in such patients.

We would expect the above to formulate at least 50% of the presentation.
