This presentation has been created in consultation with Ophthalmologists at Princess Alexandra Hospital and is accredited by Optometry Australia. A total of  guest speakers will cover topics such as:

Learning Objectives

  • Identify features of several acute & chronic eye conditions that are commonly encountered in the community, understand the indications for certain investigations and interpret key diagnostic findings, and proficiently identify progression, deterioration in a patient’s condition and how to triage, treat and/or manage accordingly.
  • Identify features of several glaucoma types that are commonly encountered in the community, understand the indications for certain investigations and interpret key diagnostic findings, gain a deeper knowledge in the principals in therapeutic & surgical management of various glaucoma conditions and proficiently identify progression, deterioration in a patient’s condition and how to triage, treat and/or manage accordingly.
  • Identify features of treated corneal eye conditions that are commonly encountered in the community, understand the indications for certain investigations and interpret key diagnostic findings and proficiently identify progression, deterioration in a patient’s condition and how to triage, treat and/or manage accordingly.
  • Identify features of treated posterior conditions that are commonly encountered in the community, understand the indications for certain investigations and interpret key diagnostic findings and proficiently identify progression, deterioration in a patient’s condition and how to triage, treat and/or manage accordingly.
  • Identify various anterior angle structures, understand when to consider referral based on narrow angles.
  • Identify features of ocular toxicity in patients, understand the indications for certain investigations and interpret key diagnostic findings, proficiently identify progression, deterioration in a patient’s condition and how to triage, treat and/or manage accordingly and understand the MBS item number changes in Medicare.
