Learning Objectives

  • At the completion of the CPD activity (1 above), participants should be able to understand Plaquenil protocols with regard to maculopathy, determine the total cumulative dose of Plaquenil and the dangers associated with exceeding this with regard to maculopathy. The participant should be able to better understand the use of OCT and VFT examinations to screen for early maculopathy and referral pathways if necessary for its management.
  • At the completion of the CPD activity (2 above) the participant should be able to understand the difference between the various Anti-VegF treatments available on the market and the efficacy of each. The participant should be able to counsel patients with macular disease on the treatment options available to them accordingly.
  • At the completion of the CPD activity (3 above) the participant should better understand diabetic eye disease and referral pathways. The participant should be able to gain new knowledge on current strategies for treatment of diabetic macular oedema, and proliferative diabetic retinopathy, including pros and cons of anti vegF treatments, dexamethasone implants and PRP in treatment of DMO. The participant should be able to counsel patients on the various treatment options available.
