Activity Outline

In this interactive presentation, Dr Mitchell Lee will provide a vitreoretinal surgeon's guide to some of the most commonly encountered entities in surgical retina, including vitreomacular traction, epiretinal membrane, and macular holes. Participants will test their knowledge of diagnosis and staging, and will get an update on the latest approaches to management for these disorders. Multimodal retinal imaging data and surgical videos will be used to help build a comprehensive picture of the problems and their solutions. A case-based discussion highlighting the anatomical, functional and aesthetic consideration relevant for periocular skin cancer surgery, as well as a discussion of non-surgical management options.

Learning Objectives

  • Revise the diagnostic features of vitreomacular interface disorders including epiretinal membrane, vitreomacular traction, full thickness macular holes, and lamellar macular holes
  • Review the latest clinical grading/staging criteria for these conditions, and how this influences management
  • Gain an overview of the goals and techniques used in the surgical management of these conditions
  • Identify the anatomical, functional and aesthetic considerations that are relevant to periocular skin cancer management and outline strategies for addressing these with their management plan.
