Learning Objectives
- More and more patients expect excellent refractive outcomes after cataract surgery. The new landscape of premium intraocular lenses offers greater ability to provide spectacle independence after surgery, but there are trade offs. Dr Cumming will discuss the current options for presbyopia correcting intraocular lenses, with pearls and pitfalls when it comes to patient selection, expectation management and pre operative optimisation
- In recent years the approach to glaucoma care has shifted from "eye drops - laser - trab" to "laser - stent". Is there a role in the new treatment algorithm for eye drops and trabeculactomy?
- Common indications for intravitreal injection include the treatment of retinal diseases associated with macular oedema, neovascularisation, or intraocular inflammation. The most frequent indications are neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion with macular oedema, and selected cases of uveitis or infectious endophthalmitis requiring intravitreal medication.
