An interactive session once again with our optometry and General Practitioner colleagues on dry and wet Macular Degeneration, some new advances in treatment and considerations for patients with cataract.
Learning Objectives
- Consolidate their understanding of the different types of macular degeneration, what are the current treatment options depending on the type, and when and how quickly to refer for treatment.
- Discuss the advances in treatment of dry AMD, suitability criteria.
- Describe the current and newer agents used in the treatment of wet AMD
- Discuss issues facing those who have both cataract and AMD, the considerations for timing of surgery, lens choice, differences in post-operative healing, visual outcomes and considerations of current nAMD treatments alongside cataract surgery and continuation of anti-vegF agents.
- Consolidate their knowledge of nAMD and CMO, the differences between them and treatment considerations in the setting of each.
