Learning Objectives

  • Participants will understand what to look for in macular conditions to assist in evaluating clinical OCT results.
  • Participants will be able to illustrate diagnostic dilemmas and approaches to treatment of retinal conditions.
  • Participants will be able to examine rare and unusual retinal cases seen in their referral centres.
  • Participants will be able to analyse Ocular Emergency presentations, to assist in urgency of referring.
  • Participants will be able to understand the causes and risks, for patients with retinal tears/ holes/ detachments and epiretinal membranes to advise the best possible treatment and management options.
  • Participants will be able to analyse common Vitreoretinal Emergencies, signs and symptoms.
  • Participants will be able to understand management of Vitreoretinal Cases.
  • Participants will be able to understand advances in surgical glaucoma management.
  • Participants will be able to examine glaucoma cases seen in their referral centres.
  • Participants will understand what to look for in glaucoma cases to assist in evaluating clinical OCT results.
  • Participants will understand how to identify and classify dry age-related macular degeneration using OCT and Autofluorescence Imaging.
  • Participants will understand when to consider referring patients with dry age-related macular degeneration to an Ophthalmologist.
  • Participants will understand the role of multivitamins to slow down progression of AMD.
  • Participants will understand therapies to slow the rate of dry age-related macular degeneration in late phase clinical trials including laser therapy, intravitreal injections, oral medications, subcutaneous medication and gene therapies.
