Activity Outline
At this event attendees will be divided into 3 small groups and participate in 3 different stations. Each station will be led by an ophthalmologist. As they will be small groups, this will allow all attendees the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the presenting ophthalmologist. The stations will encompass different formats; a hands on ICL demonstration, quiz and presentation model implants.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the SMILE procedure from past to present, how the technology has evolved and patient suitabililty
- Describe refractive post-op care for different laser procedures; SMILE, LASIK & PRK/PTK- what's normal, what's not, and what an optometrist needs to be aware of when accessing these patients
- Discuss Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL - patient suitability, recovery expectations and the role of optometrists in guiding patients through this journey
