Activity Outline
Dr Flora Hui presents on Alzheimer’s Disease & the Eye
Duration: 30 minutes
Synopsis: Across Australia, it is estimated that over 400,000 people are living with dementia. Of these, the most common diagnosis is Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), and with the ageing population, numbers are expected to double by 2058. New drugs to treat AD are starting to appear on the market, making early diagnosis of AD ever more important. Here we discuss some of the ocular signs that have been seen in AD, which may assist in future AD diagnosis and the role optometrists have in delivering dementia-friendly eyecare.
